Reflection

These two articles both tell us why we cite and when we cite, and these give some reasons to inform why citation is important. Citation will you to be a better writer. You will avoid plagiarism which can get 0 on the paper or get F on this course. In addition, let the reader convince you what you said, and this is also another way to prove your knowledge. When you want to use other ideas or words directly, you might use quotation marks to quote it and must have citation around this sentence. Actually, there are three ways to avoid plagiarism: direct quotation, paraphrasing and summary. The direct quotations I have already told before. Paraphrasing and summary do not have quotation marks, but thesis need your own words. Besides, paraphrasing needs the same idea, concept and tone that you want to use in your essay, and it also needs the in-text citation. About the common knowledge, you do not cite it. What is the common knowledge? It is known by the public. For example, the sun rises in the East and falls in the West. Also, here are some ways to commit plagiarism. First, you give the incorrect information about the source. For example, when you use a source without date, you should put in-text citation with N.D. which is no date rather than make a date casually. Second, you use someone's essay without citation and reference. It is a basic and serious plagiarism. Third, you ask someone to help to write a paper to you, and you regard it as original. Although you do not steal others idea, it also not yours. Final, you do not have the citing sources or write a fake citation. In the future, once I do the research, I must cite it. How to deal with academic dishonesty? If it is your first violation, you will receive an warning. If it is your second time, you will be asked and "invited" to Judicial Hearing Officer. I have not plagiarized before, and I believe I will not plagiarize in the future.
